Plastic

Production techniques for plastics are mainly focussed around reshaping the heated base material. For techniques like injection moulding, extrusion or extrusion blow moulding this base material is usually delivered as granulate or pellets. With these techniques the material gets heated up to a point where it becomes viscous and starts to loose its shape and even can be mixed with, for instance, a pigment to color the material. Next to these there are also techniques that use pre-fabricated parts as input material and reshape these after heating them into the final desired product.

Techniques displayed on this page may not be limited for use with plastics and could also be applicable for production of certain metals. An example of this is the production of Zamak parts with the use of the injection moulding proces.
